Today, we are sharing big news. A major new update is coming to Mindbug Online on October 10th 2025, and it brings the most customizable and replayable experience the game has ever seen: the Ascension Mode. In this article, we are going to explain how this mode works.

What is Mindbug Ascension?

Mindbug has always been about capturing the best parts of complex trading card games. The exciting duels, the clever creature plays, the tense mind games, while cutting away the unnecessary grind and complexity. Mindbug Ascension takes that vision one step further.

Many players love the creativity that comes from building their own decks. Finding clever synergies, pulling off that perfect combo, or simply crafting a deck that tells its own story. It’s a huge part of what makes TCGs like Magic (especially the Commander format) so beloved. But as satisfying as deck-building can be, it can also be intimidating and time-consuming, especially for players who just want to jump in and play.

Mindbug Ascension bridges that gap. It gives you the joy of creating your own deck, but in true Mindbug fashion, it keeps things fast, focused, and fun. Instead of spending hours building upfront, you make meaningful choices step by step, between matches, shaping your deck as you play. Each run becomes a journey of discovery, and by the end, you’ll have something uniquely yours. A deck that feels personal, earned, and full of your own decisions.

For the first time in Mindbug, your deck doesn’t just exist. It evolves with you.

How does it work?

Each Mindbug begins with its own starter deck of just six cards. From there, the evolution begins. Choose your Mindbug, pick one of its unique powers, and draft four cards from your collection that combo well with your chosen Mindbug Power. For the first time in Mindbug, you’re not just playing with a set deck. You’re building and refining one that feels truly yours.

After every match, you’ll get the chance to tweak your deck: replace cards with new ones, and adapt your strategy on the fly. Each choice matters, shaping your deck’s identity as you climb through your Ascension run.

Winning games also earns you upgrade tokens. Powerful tools that let you enhance or transform your creatures. Want to crush your opponent with a sneaky Gorilion? Go for it. Prefer a resilient Chameleon Sniper with tough? Make it happen. Some upgrades offer simple stat boosts, while others are rare or even legendary tokens that grant wild new abilities and game-changing effects. But beware. Not every upgrade is purely beneficial. Some add new powers at the cost of raw strength, so every choice demands strategic foresight.

And of course, your opponent can still Mindbug your upgraded creatures. That masterpiece you built to dominate the battlefield might just end up turning against you. So, time it wisely.

Meaningful Progression and Your Growing Collection

Ascension brings a long-awaited progression system to Mindbug Online. As you play, you’ll unlock new cards, Mindbug Powers, and Upgrade Tokens which are expanding your collection and deepening your future runs. It’s a system built around meaningful rewards and steady growth, giving players a real sense of progress with every match.

New players won’t be overwhelmed by an ocean of cards right from the start. Instead, they’ll unlock new tools and strategies step by step. Veterans, on the other hand, can look forward to continuous discovery and evolving deck-building possibilities. Your collection will also play a bigger role beyond Ascension. Future updates will integrate it into other modes like Colosseum Events and Tournaments, adding new ways to showcase your best creations.

And don’t worry. The heart of Mindbug, the classic Duel mode, remains untouched. It’s still the same fast, fair, and fiercely strategic experience. Fully independent of your collection.

Other Major Updates: Asynchronous Play, Rotations, and the Coliseum

Alongside Ascension, the new update also brings a few other highly requested features:

• Rotation Queue:
  There will now be just one live Duel Queue (plus Ascension), featuring regularly rotating card sets to keep every match feeling new and exciting. It’s completely free to play and ensures you’ll always face fresh challenges and evolving metas.

• Asynchronous Matches:
  Play your way, on your time. You have up to two days per move, allowing you to enjoy multiple matches at your own pace. Whether you’re on your lunch break or commuting between galaxies, you can keep dueling when it fits your schedule. All sets you own in Mindbug Online are available for asynchronous play.

• The Coliseum (Returning Soon!):
  The fan-favorite event mode is coming back! The Coliseum will host limited-time events featuring special twists, experimental rules, and a bit of glorious chaos. Some events will be competitive, others purely for fun. But all of them will shake up how you play. We plan to bring these events back as special occasions that temporarily replace the Duel Queue, ensuring a focused, active player base for each event.

Mindbug Ascension launches as an open beta, available to everyone! At launch, you can dive in with First Contact cards. If you own the Battlefruit Kingdom Set, you’ll also gain access to those Mindbugs, powers and cards.

More Mindbugs, more sets, and more Tokens are on the way. This is the beginning of a new chapter for Mindbug!
